The family of a 70-year-old Catawba County man who has been missing for two weeks is offering a $2,000 reward for information about the case.
Authorities have said they suspect foul play in the disappearance of Kenneth Ken Mohler, who was last seen at Gregory Wood Products on Aug. 16.
Mohler had gone to the saw mill near Newton that day to repair a pipe, according to reports. He later called his boss to say the pipe was fixed. Then he sent a text message to his wife, saying he was heading home.
The next day, his truck was found at the saw mill and his cellphone was in the dirt nearby.
Searches for Mohler have turned up nothing. Relatives told Observer news partner WCNC-TV that they believe Mohler stumbled upon someone trying to steal motors from the saw mill.
The Catawba County Sherriffs Office now says Mohlers family is offering a reward for information. Tipsters are asked to call the Sheriffs Office at 828-464-5241.
Mohler is a white man who is 5-foot-5 and 200 pounds. He is bald and was last seen wearing a white shirt, jeans, and work boots.
