Shots fired at NW Charlotte Burger King

Police are investigating a shooting that happened late Saturday outside a Burger King restaurant in northwest Charlotte.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg police said officers responded to a report of gunshots at the Burger King at the corner of North Hoskins Road and Brookshire Boulevard just after 11 p.m. Around the same time, someone arrived at an area hospital with a gunshot wound to the abdomen, police said.

The victim, who has not yet been identified, was in surgery late Saturday.

At the fast food restaurant, investigators used crime scene tape to block off part of the parking lot as they used flashlights to scan the ground, placing markers by evidence. They also shined their flashlights upward at a hole, apparently caused by a bullet, on the restaurant’s exterior.

Police didn’t immediately release a description of the suspect.
