A California delegate to the Democratic National Convention was briefly hospitalized early Sunday after he and another California delegate showed up at Charlotte's Blake Hotel drunk and apparently passed out, a delegation spokesman said.
"One of the delegates appeared to the hotel staff to be unconscious and they called paramedics," delegation spokesman Tenoch Flores said Sunday afternoon. "They transported him to a hospital. He has since recovered and was released."
Flores said the other delegate "became disruptive with hotel staff and emergency technicians" and the hotel staff called Charlotte-Mecklenburg police.
That delegate was not arrested, but the California Democratic Party met Sunday afternoon and asked him to leave the hotel and not take part in the convention, Flores said. The delegate, he said, apologized to the hotel staff and agreed to leave and not be a part of the convention.
