CHARLOTTE, N.C. Nine weeks before the election, Republican Pat McCrory enjoys a double-digit lead over Democrat Walter Dalton in North Carolinas gubernatorial race, according to an Elon University Poll released Monday.
The poll, a partnership with the Observer and the News & Observer of Raleigh, also showed the economy contributing to Republican Mitt Romneys 4-point lead over President Barack Obama in the state.
Elon surveyed 1,089 likely voters from Aug. 25-30, during the Republican National Convention.
In the governors race, McCrory led Dalton 52 percent to 37 percent.
McCrory has led Dalton in most other polls.
