Browns' Richardson is back in practice

BEREA, Ohio Trent Richardson practiced with the Browns. All that’s left is for him to play.

Cleveland’s rookie running back returned to practice Monday for the first time since undergoing knee surgery Aug. 9, a strong sign he will play in Sunday’s season opener at home against Philadelphia.

Around the League

Arizona: The Cardinals signed offensive tackle Pat McQuistan, claimed outside linebacker Jamaal Westerman and placed offensive tackle Jeremy Bridges on season-ending injured reserve.

Buffalo: Bills backup quarterback Tyler Thigpen accepted a $1 million pay cut, restructuring his contract

Chicago: The Bears signed defensive tackle Amobi Okoye to a one-year contract and waived DT Brian Price… Linebacker Brian Urlacher returned to practice.

Detroit: The Lions signed cornerback Drayton Florence and released safety Ricardo Silva.

Indianapolis: The Colts brought back defensive back D.J. Johnson and running back Alvester Alexander to their practice squad.

Jacksonville: The Jaguars likely will be without starting cornerback Derek Cox, who injured his left hamstring in the preseason opener and has been sidelined since.

NFL: Two days before the NFL season kicks off, no talks are scheduled between the league and the locked-out on-field officials. Both sides met for three days last week, but did not reach an agreement.

N.Y. Giants: Wide receiver Hakeem Nicks vowed to play in the Giants season opener against Dallas despite missing his second straight practice…Three-time Pro Bowl center Shaun O’Hara officially retired.

Oakland: The Raiders signed cornerback Joselio Hanson to bolster their secondary. Associated Press
