Gospel Shout! Concert

Jointly presented by Levine Museum of the New South and Center City Partners, Gospel Shout! showcases a capella singing as well as the high-energy, trombone-led “shout band” music found only at United House of Prayer. The cafeteria will serve soul food dinners starting at 6 p.m. for $10.

The headlining act in the 21st annual jazz festival is Donald Harrison, known as “The King of Nouveau Swing.” Also performing will be the Calvin Edwards Trio, Envision, Fat Snacks and Los Leones.

Banff Radical Reels Tour

The U.S. National Whitewater Center will host a free outdoor screening of Banff Radical Reels Tour. The Radical Reels program is made up of short, action-packed climbing, paddling, mountain biking, BASE jumping, skiing, snowboarding and other adrenaline sport films. Parking is $5.

Opening reception for Dialect’s Discipline: A Show Celebrating Charlotte Artists

Pura Vida Worldly Art, a NoDa shop that sells handcrafted items and religious and spiritual art from all over the world, is hosting an exhibit by Christina Welsh that features the black and white photography of Charlotte artists. The opening reception is Friday night during NoDa’s Gallery Crawl.

Bargain hunters are cheering: The Huntersville Goodwill is opening on Saturday. The ribbon cutting will take place at 8:30 a.m. At 9 a.m., the doors will open and festivities will include music and giveaways. Shoppers will have several chances to with a $250 U.S. Airways gift card.
