Shelby police probe 2 robberies

SHELBY -- Police say they looking for the man or men responsible for a pair of Labor Day weekend robberies.

The first incident was reported shortly after 11:30 p.m. Sunday at the Waffle House in the 1800 block of East Dixon Boulevard. Police say a man dressed in black clothing and wearing a black toboggan over his head entered the restaurant, armed with what appeared to be a tire iron.

The man demanded money from the business and from employees.

Then about 9:30 p.m. Monday, a man entered Mike’s Food Store, in the 400 block of North Post Road, and demanded money. The man was armed with some type of weapon that he used to strike a store clerk on the arm.

Police say the man was wearing black or dark clothing with white trim, and his face was covered with a dark-colored mask.
