Man shot while pumping gas in Hickory

HICKORY -- Police are looking for a man who shot another man in the abdomen early Wednesday at a convenience store.

Police say they don’t know the exact motive for the shooting, but they say they don’t think it was random violence.

It happened about 2:15 a.m. at the Kangaroo Express, in the 2800 block of North Center Street. Police say a relative took the victim to Frye Regional Medical Center, where he is in stable condition.

The suspect, according to police, is a white male in his late teens or his early 20s. He left the scene in a tan or silver Volvo car, possible a 1990s model, according to police. All four wheels were missing hubcaps, and the door over the gas cap also was missing.

Anyone with information in the case is asked to contact Hickory police, at 828-328-5551.
