Six Providence High School students active in its Health Occupations Students of America club for future health professionals competed recently against more than 50 state teams at the 35th annual National Leadership Conference in Orlando, Fla.
Junior Bharath Rama (dental/medical terminology), junior Cheng Qiu (healthy lifestyles), senior Raksha Muthukumar (biomedical debate team), junior Jasmine Ranjit (biomedical debate team), junior Juilee Shivalkar (biomedical debate team) and sophomore Annika Wurm (biomedical debate team) traveled with 40 other Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools high school students who also qualified for the national competition.
Bharath earned third place in his event. The four students making up the biomedical debate team successfully competed in the first debate rounds and competed in the finals of their two-day event competition.
