Police are asking for the public’s help to identify a man who wore a shirt wrapped around his face as he robbed a northeast Charlotte convenience store at gunpoint last week.
The robbery happened just before 12:30 a.m. Sept. 4 at a Circle K store on The Plaza near its intersection with East W.T. Harris Boulevard.
The suspect came into the store, brandished a gun and demanded money and cigarettes, according to a Charlotte-Mecklenburg police report. He fled with $340 and Newport cigarettes, police said.
On Tuesday, police released surveillance photos of the man inside the store. He was bare-chested, instead wrapping a white shirt around his face. One photo shows him pointing a handgun. Another apparently shows him behind the register.
The suspect is described as a black man who is about 20 years old and 5-foot-6 and 160 pounds. He wore black pants and black Nike shoes.
Anyone with information about the robbery is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600.
