CATS chief is finalist for Florida job

Carolyn Flowers, the chief executive of the Charlotte Area Transit System, is being considered for a similar position in Jacksonville, Fla.

Flowers is one of three finalists for the executive director position of the Jacksonville Transportation Authority, according to the Florida Times-Union newspaper.

Flowers came to CATS in 2009 and is overseeing an effort to expand the Lynx Blye Line to University City.

Flowers couldn’t be reached for comment Tuesday.

Olaf Kinard, who is the CATS marketing manager, said Flowers didn’t apply for the job. He said she was contacted by a recruiter, who recommended her as a finalist. He said she hasn’t yet interviewed for the job.

Flowers came to CATS from the transit system in Los Angeles, where she was chief operating officer.
