Congestion remains the big problem on Charlotte-area roadways shortly before 9 a.m. this Wednesday morning.
Here is the situation at 8:55 a.m.:

-- I-77 northbound, south Charlotte ... More congestion causing problems here, with average speeds of 15 to 20 mph between Carowinds Boulevard and Woodlawn Road. This situation has not improved over the last half-hour.
-- Billy Graham Parkway, outer loop ... Traffic is moving only 20 mph from I-85 down to West Boulevard. Some of that is due to a disabled vehicle at West Boulevard.
-- I-85 southbound, Cabarrus County ... Typical congestion delays between Poplar Tent Road and I-485.
-- U.S. 321 southbound, Gaston County ... Congestion has slowed traffic to 20 mph on the approach to I-85.
