Here is a summary of problems at 8:40 a.m.:

-- I-85 northbound, north Charlotte ... A collision in the right lane, between Harris Boulevard and Mallard Creek Church Road. Delays are minimal.

-- Browne Road at Hucks Road ... A collision with minor delays.

-- Wilkinson Boulevard near I-77 ... A collision with minor delays.

-- I-485 inner loop, south Mecklenburg ... Traffic averaging 40 to 45 mph, with congestion problems easing.

-- I-85 southbound, Cabarrus County ... Conditions have improved since 8 a.m., with traffic averaging 40 mph.

The weather is mostly clear and a bit cooler than usual for this time of year. Temperatures are in the upper 50s, but they will climb into the lower and middle 80s by Friday afternoon.
