A Kannapolis man remains in jail early Friday after authorities say they found 40 pounds of marijuana inside a residence.
Ismael Garcia Gonzalez, 31, was charged Wednesday with trafficking marijuana. He was being held without bond in the Rowan County Detention Center, where authorities have placed an immigration hold on him.
The Rowan County Sheriff’s office said detectives found the drugs after serving a search warrant at a home in the 200 block of Russell Farm Road in Kannapolis.
The marijuana seized has a wholesale value of $40,000 authorities said.
