7 hurt in North Tryon crash

Seven people were injured, one seriously, in a multi-vehicle crash Friday morning not far from uptown.

The wreck happened shortly after 10:30 a.m. in the 1200 block of North Tryon Street, a few blocks north of the Brookshire Freeway.

Charlotte fire Capt. Rob Brisley said a motorist was trapped, and a crew of 18 firefighters was able to free the motorist in 15 minutes. North Tryon Street was closed during that time.

Kristin Young, a spokeswoman for Medic, says all seven victims were taken to Carolinas Medical Center. One person had potentially life-threatening injuries, she said. The other injuries were not life-threatening, she said.
