Charlotte Observer staff reports

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police are investigating a stabbing during a north Charlotte party that left another man with life threatening injuries.

The attack happened at about 8 p.m. Saturday at a home on Parson Street in the Villa Heights community.

Police said two men had been drinking at a backyard cookout and began arguing. Authorities say Sugar Ray Robinson, 53, pulled out a knife and stabbed Anthony Leggett, 52, several times in the stomach, across the chest, and down his arm.

Medic says the victim was transported to Carolinas Medical Center, where he remains in fair condition.

Officials say they’re searching for Robinson, anyone with information on his whereabouts should contact police.
