MYRTLE BEACH Horry County police arrested a Myrtle Beach-area woman early Monday after reports that she had choked and beaten a child.
Elizabeth Ann Williams, 40, is charged with cruelty to children, and is being held at J. Reuben Long Detention Center.
Police met with the 911 caller, who said Williams had been angry with a 12-year-old boy when she choked and hit him, according to a Horry County police report. The officer could hear Williams shouting obscenities from the back porch.
The child, who was playing with friends, said Williams was mad that he was awake and yelled at him to send his friends home. After the friends left, he grabbed video games to play when Williams came after him, the report said.
Last week, a woman was arrested when two children were found in a hotel room with a dead man and drugs.
Belonda Renee Davis, 29, of Loris is charged with two counts of unlawful neglect of a child. She was arrested Sept. 12 and was released Sept. 13 after posting $5,000 bond, according to jail records.
Two girls, ages 11 and 13, were in a room at the Carolina Inn Hotel at 312 N. U.S. 701, where Paul Tebeau, 21, of Loris was found dead. The cause of death is still under investigation. Prescription drugs, marijuana, a crack pipe, unidentified white pills in a cigarette pack and what appeared to be Sudafed were all found in the room.
Davis was charged with allowing the kids to be in an unsafe environment, and the girls were placed in emergency protective custody.
