Burglars hit family home during toddler’s funeral

FAITH -- Authorities in Rowan County are investigating a burglary at the residence where a 1-year-old who drowned last week had lived, and they say the break-in apparently happened during the toddler’s funeral.

The sheriff’s office says someone broke into the home of Nicholas Munn and Jessica Kepley, on Rockwood Drive south of Salisbury.

Parker Munn drowned Sept. 11 in the fountain at a neighbor’s house. Deputies say his parents discovered the burglary when they returned from the child’s funeral Saturday.

Thieves took about $4,000 worth of items, according to the sheriff’s office, including clothes, a TV set and jewelry. Also stolen: the Bible that was in Parker’s room.

Anyone with information in the case is asked to contact Rowan County Crime Stoppers, 866-639-5245.
