I do love fashion and philanthropy, so the Celebrating Women event at Concord Mills is right up my alley. Saturdays event encourages women to look good, feel good and do good. Yes, yes, yes.Concord Mills is the home of one of my most favorite stores in the area: Saks OFF 5TH. When I changed careers a few years ago, I took a part-time job at Saks, and well, suffice to say that in the year I worked there, I probably didnt make any money. Too much access to insanely good deals on designer sell-offs (Whats that? A Marc by Marc Jacobs bag with an employee discount AND a sale? Yes please). When I worked there (and still now), I would occasionally hear Charlotte shoppers complain that the mall is too far away. Id like to encourage Charlotte shoppers to take a deep breath and leave the bubble the Mills is a straight shot down 85. Maybe 15-20 minutes away from Uptown. Maybe instead I just shouldnt say anything, so I can have all those Marni totes and Tory Burch bags at redic discounted prices to myself.Anywho, starting at 5p this Saturday Sept. 22, select retailers throughout the mall in Concord will offer Style Stops: interactive fashion and style experiences with special discounts, giveaways and more.At 6 p.m. Saks Fifth Avenue OFF 5th will host a fashion show featuring Emmy Award Winning Make-up artist Jan Ping. Among the retailers guests will see represented on the runway: Banana Republic Factory Store, DKNY Company Store, Saks OFF 5th and Tommy Bahama Outlet.Saks OFF 5th will also host an after party featuring complementary refreshments, live entertainment and giveaways. Tickets are $20 per person and benefit the Carolinas Medical Center NorthEast Foundation. The philanthropic partner for the event is Carolinas Medical Center NorthEast, and as an early kick-off to national Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the CMC-NorthEast mobile mammography coach will be on site providing breast exams. For more details or to buy tickets to the VIP after party, call 704-979-3000 or visit concordmills.com.
