Your morning traffic update

Congestion and a few collisions are causing problems for motorists in the Charlotte region this Friday morning.

At 8:15 a.m., there were two reported collision on Harris Boulevard, along with congestion delays on Interstate 77 and some big problems on the inner loop of I-485 due to congestion.

Here is a summary of traffic problems at 8:15 a.m.:

-- I-485 inner loop, south Mecklenburg ... Traffic is stop-and-go, averaging only 15 mph, from Providence Road to South Boulevard.

-- I-77 northbound, south Charlotte ... Congestion delays are slowing traffic to 20 mph from Carowinds Boulevard to Tyvola Road.

-- I-77 southbound, Lake Norman area ... Congestion slowing traffic to 20 or 25 mph, from Mooresville down to Huntersville.

-- N.C. 51 at Johnston Road ... A collision is causing moderate delays on both roads.

-- Harris Boulevard at Albemarle Road ... A collision is slowing traffic on inbound Albemarle Road to 15 or 20 mph.

-- Harris Boulevard at University City Boulevard ... A collision but only minor delays.

The weather is good, with clear skies and temperatures near 60 degrees. The forecast for today is for mostly sunny skies and high temperatures reaching 80 degrees.
