Charlotte checkpoint finds 60 driving without license

Charlotte-Mecklenburg police say they found 60 drivers behind the wheel without a valid license during a DWI checkpoint overnight in east Charlotte.

Police also arrested five drivers on DWI charges. The checkpoint was conducted from 11 p.m. Thursday until 3 a.m. Friday in the 5200 block of North Sharon Amity Road. That is between Shamrock Drive and Milton Road.

Police say they issued these charges:

DWI -- 5

Driving with revoked license -- 32

Driving with no license -- 28

Open container law violation -- 2

Drug charges -- 5

Felony warrants -- 2

Tags, inspections, etc. -- 45
