Carowinds theme park unveiled its plan for a new spring attraction Friday morning, called Dinosaurs Alive!
The exhibit, which will become a permanent fixture at the park, will span five acres and feature 32 life-size dinosaurs. Dinosaurs Alive! will also feature a sand pit for junior paleontologists.
The attraction is coming to Carowinds in celebration of the theme parks 40th anniversary, although a springtime date has not yet been set.
Carowinds officials are touting that the attraction will be the largest animatronic dinosaur park in the southeast.
We feel Dinosaurs Alive! will be such a special opportunity for children and families to learn about these mysterious creatures, said Julie Whitted, a spokeswoman for Carowinds.
