Carowinds' 'Dinosaurs Alive!' attraction to open this spring

Carowinds theme park unveiled its plan for a new spring attraction Friday morning, called “Dinosaurs Alive!”

The exhibit, which will become a permanent fixture at the park, will span five acres and feature 32 life-size dinosaurs. “Dinosaurs Alive!” will also feature a sand pit for junior paleontologists.

The attraction is coming to Carowinds in celebration of the theme park’s 40th anniversary, although a springtime date has not yet been set.

Carowinds officials are touting that the attraction will be the largest “animatronic” dinosaur park in the southeast.

“We feel ‘Dinosaurs Alive!’ will be such a special opportunity for children and families to learn about these mysterious creatures,” said Julie Whitted, a spokeswoman for Carowinds.
