Police say a Gastonia woman used a stun gun on an 11-year-old Thursday.

Toni Nicole Meeks, 39, was charged with assault with a deadly weapon and assault on a child under 12 after officials said she jolted the boy in the neck with the stun gun at a home on Meade Avenue.

The police report stated the boy had burn marks on his neck from the weapon. He was taken to Gaston Memorial Hospital, police said.

Police said Meeks also assaulted a 17-year-old girl at a different home on the same street sometime Thursday.

In that incident she was charged with simple assault. It’s unclear if the two incidents are related.

For all the charges, Meeks was given a $10,000 secured bond.
