A 28-year-old man accused of abusing a disabled toddler two years ago will spend up to about four years in prison.
The trial against Timothy John Long began Monday and ended Wednesday when a jury found him guilty of felony child abuse, according to the Mecklenburg County District Attorney’s Office.
Long assaulted a 3-year-old in August 2010, and the child was admitted to Levine Children’s Hospital with a skull fracture, prosecutors said. Long was supposed to be caring for the child, who had a developmental disability.
Prosecutors said Superior Court Judge R. Allen Baddour Jr. sentenced Long to the maximum sentence allowed by state law: 31-47 months in prison. That is equivalent to about two and a half to four years.
