Southbound Interstate 77 near Lake Norman is the trouble spot at 8:45 a.m. this Tuesday morning.
Traffic already was slow in the area because of congestion, but the N.C. Highway Patrol has reported a wreck on southbound I-77 near Sam Furr Road. That is slowing average speeds in the area to 10 mph.
Here is a summary of problems at 8:45 a.m.:
-- I-77 southbound, near Lake Norman ... Congestion and a wreck (near Huntersville) slowing traffic to 15 mph from Davidson down to the I-485 interchange. Conditions improving north of Davidson.
-- I-77 northbound, south Charlotte ... Congestion slowing traffic to 20 mph from Carowinds up to Tyvola Road.
-- I-485 inner loop, south Mecklenburg ... Traffic is very slow -- stop-and-go -- from Providence Road to I-77. Average speeds are only 15 to 20 mph.
-- N.C. 51 southbound ... Very slow traffic from the Arboretum down toward Carmel Road. No collisions reported, however.
-- Independence Boulevard inbound ... Traffic is slow, averaging 20 to 25 mph, from Albemarle Road to the I-277 ramp. There also is a collision on that ramp from Independence to the John Belk Freeway, but the vehicles have been moved out of travel lanes.
-- I-85 southbound, Cabarrus County ... Congestion problems are improving, with average speeds of 30 mph around Poplar Tent Road and Bruton Smith Boulevard, down to I-485.
-- Mallard Creek Road at Mallard Creek Church Road ... A collision is causing minor delays in the area.
