The two were last seen about 1:40 a.m. Tuesday on southbound U.S. 17 near the South Carolina border, apparently headed into the Palmetto State.

Abigale is 5 feet 4 and 90 pounds, with brown hair and blue eyes. She was wearing black Nike shoes and carrying a pink backpack with peace signs on it, according to deputies. Newman is 5 feet 8 and 210 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes.

The two were in Newman’s car, a red 1998 Chrysler Sebring, with N.C. tags AKT-6534.
