The East Spencer Fire Department is expected to reopen Wednesday after a reported internal dispute led to a brief shutdown earlier this week.
The Salisbury Post reports the fire Chief Shawn McBride called nearby fire departments Monday evening to say the fire station was out of service after some firefighters failed to appear for a mandatory meeting. Other fire agencies helped to cover any service calls in East Spencer during the temporary shutdown, the newspaper reported.
McBride told the Post there have been other personnel issues at the department during his tenure. The fire chief is expected to talk in the coming days with town leaders about some concerns he has, according to the paper.
