Missing man, 87, is found

Authorities say an 87-year-old man who was reported missing in northwest Charlotte has been found.

On Wednesday evening, the N.C. Center for Missing Persons issued a Silver Alert for Harold Gwynn Hipp, saying he is believed to be suffering from dementia or some other cognitive impairment. He had last seen on Taimi Drive, located off Sam Wilson Road. That’s not far from the Interstate-85/Interstate-485 interchange.

Late Wednesday, the Silver Alert was canceled at the request of Charlotte-Mecklenburg police, authorities said.

Details about Hipp's disappearance weren't immediately available.
