Another week has flown by, and another month, too. Was it the same circus, different clowns? If yes then perhaps you should mix it up this weekend. Here are a few options:

Friday

Movies in the Park: Friday is the last show for Elevation Church Movies in the Park at University City YMCA (8100 Old Mallard Creek Road). They’re playing “The Smurfs,” so it’s nightlife for the kids, too. 8:45 p.m. Free. www.elevationchurch.org.

Beer pong tourney: Check out the first 2 Ball Open at Prohibition (200 N. Tryon St.) – a charity two ball beer pong tournament to benefit the Prostate Cancer Foundation. $10 per team. 8 p.m. 704-358-4244.

www.prohibitionclt.com.

Saturday

Dance party: It’s Dharma Lounge’s three-year anniversary, and to celebrate they’re bringing in one of the heads of the house music scene: Miguel Migs. 1440 S. Tryon St. $20. 9 p.m. 704-334-8336.

Or you can have Dinner and a Murder, a murder mystery dinner party at Theatre Charlotte (501 Queens Road). This fundraiser lets you play detective and figure out who did it, like an interactive “Criminal Minds” episode. $49 to play. 6:30 p.m. 704-372-1000. www.carolinatix.org.

New watering hole: Harvey’s Bar and Grill just opened in Lake Norman (19707 Liverpool Parkway) – it’s now a lake franchise as this new Cornelius location neighboring Mac’s Speedshop compliments their original Huntersville location, home of the Bar Stool Pastor on Sundays. Worth checking out. 704-892-1001.

Meanwhile, Selwyn Pub (2801 Selwyn Ave.) has the perfect fall patio. Now is the time to go outside before we have to get the coats out! 704-333-3443.
