We ask 10 questions of Panthers linebacker Jordan Senn, about being the special teams captain, his affinity for fishing and his dislike of reality television.
Q. What does it mean to have that ‘C’ on your jersey?
It means a lot to feel like guys respect me and see me as a captain, someone they want to be a leader for them. I want them to know it’s not just a one-sided thing. Hopefully, I can stand up for guys and take care of a teammate when I feel like people need to be stood up for.
Q. After being on the field basically every snap at the end of last season, how has the adjustment gone getting back into a special teams role?
It definitely feels different. When you play defense, you feel like you interact with a lot more people. Special teams, there’s a lot of man-on-man battles. I feel fine. I feel definitely less banged-up than I did last year. I feel pretty fresh all the time, which is nice. Do I want to play defense? Yeah, I love playing defense. But I enjoy playing special teams.
Q. I know you’re into fishing, but are you an X Games kind of guy?
I’ve watched. Before I played in the NFL, I used to snowboard a lot. I’ll go back to that when I’m done playing.
Q. Is there anything in your contract that says you can’t do that kind of thing?
I assume so. I wouldn’t just because it’s not (safe). I’d rather save it, and when I’m done playing have something to look forward to.
Q. How do you fill that void?
I’ll go fish offseason. I went fishing (last) weekend down to South Carolina, just a pond.
Q. What’s the last movie you saw?
Usually I go to movies all the time, but I haven’t gone for a while. I’ve been watching “Game of Thrones.” My buddy told me to watch that. Usually I go to movies all the time with my wife. There hasn’t been anything we’ve wanted to see for a while.
Q. Did she make you watch “The Bachelorette” when it was filmed in Charlotte?
I watched some of “The Bachelorette” with her. One of the guys that was on the show is from my hometown (Beaverton, Ore.) and I actually know him. He’s like my cousin’s good friend and went to our high school. Tony Piper. I didn’t really pay attention. My wife would have it on. I watched it a little bit. It was cool to see them go different places in Charlotte.
