Sheriff’s deputy injured in motorcycle wreck

A Lincoln County Sheriff’s deputy was injured late Sunday in a single-vehicle collision.

The Sheriff’s office identified the injured deputy as Matt Hovis. The wreck involving his motorcycle happened around 10:20 p.m. on Bud Black Road, inside the Gaston County line.

Hovis, who had possible head injuries, was taken to Gaston Memorial Hospital, where he was in critical condition in the surgical intensive care unit.

The wreck is under investigation by the N.C. Highway Patrol.
