Biden’s visit will affect traffic

Vice President Joe Biden is in Charlotte for a midday speech, and that will mean traffic problems for some motorists in the region.

Biden is speaking at the N.C. Music Factory, on North Graham Street near the Brookshire Freeway.

The vice president was scheduled to arrive at Charlotte-Douglas International Airport around 10 a.m., but his arrival was delayed. It appears as if his plane landed sometime around 11:45 a.m.

Biden’s motorcade apparently is headed to the uptown area. Officials do not discuss the route of visiting dignitaries in advance, but motorists can expect temporary road closures on some or all of these routes:

-- Billy Graham Parkway

-- Interstate 85, between the Billy Graham Parkway and the Brookshire Freeway

-- Brookshire Freeway

-- possible northbound Interstate 77, if the motorcade follows the Billy Graham Parkway-Interstate 77-Brookshire Freeway route.

The road closures will happen again early Tuesday afternoon, when the motorcade takes Biden back to the airport.
