Hunger Drive has Facebook voting for schools

Voting is taking place this week on Facebook to select the four winning schools in the talent competition portion of the annual Student Hunger Drive.

Students from 16 Charlotte-area schools are competing in the event, trying to collect the most food for the needy.

During the kick-off event for the drive earlier this month, each school presented a skit related to the food drive. Until midnight Friday, people can vote for their favorite skit, and the four schools receiving the most votes will participate in a Food Lion Fast Feet 90-second grocery shopping spree at 7 a.m. Oct. 20.

All food collected during that spree will count toward the schools’ collection totals, and the food will be donated to Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina.

Participating high schools are Ardrey Kell, Butler, East Mecklenburg, Garinger, Myers Park, Olympic, Providence and South Mecklenburg in Mecklenburg County; Cannon School, Central Cabarrus, Cox Mill, Hickory Ridge, Mount Pleasant and Northwest Cabarrus in Cabarrus County; and Fort Mill and Nation Ford in York County.

You can vote at www.facebook.com/HungerDriveVote.
