Your morning traffic update

The biggest traffic problems at 8:45 a.m. Wednesday morning are on the interstate highways, due mostly to congestion but also a few collisions.

There are problems on a number of other roads, however, including Wilkinson Boulevard, Valleydale Road, and Sharon Amity Road.

Here is a look at traffic at 8:45 a.m.:

-- I-485 inner loop, south Mecklenburg ... Heavy congestion, with traffic moving at 15 to 20 mph from Providence Road to South Boulevard.

-- I-85 southbound, Cabarrus County ... Congestion slowing traffic to 15 mph from N.C. 73 to I-485.

-- I-77 southbound, Lake Norman area ... Congestion slowing traffic to 20 mph.

-- I-77 northbound ... Earlier collisions in northern York County are cleared, but congestion is slowing traffic to 25 or 30 mph from Gold Hill Road to Tyvola Road.

-- Wilkinson Boulevard at Sam Wilson Road ... A collision is causing moderate delays.

-- Valleydale Road at Bellhaven Boulevard ... Police are clearing this wreck, which caused injuries. Motorists should avoid the area until after 9 a.m.

-- Sharon Amity Road at Randolph Road ... A collision is causing moderate delays.

-- East Woodlawn Road at Selwyn Avenue ... A collision causing minor delays.

-- I-485 outer loop, Mint Hill ... A collision has been moved to the sholder, between Lawyers Road and N.C. 218. Only minor delays.

-- Pineville-Matthews Road at Providence Road ... A collision, but only minor delays.
