Nuclear plant siren test Wednesday

Sirens will sound around the McGuire and Catawba nuclear power plants Wednesday morning, in the quarterly tests of the warning systems.

The sirens are scheduled to sound around 11:50 a.m. No public action is required during the three-minute tests.

In a real event, the sirens are not an order to evacuate. Instead, residents should tune to radio or TV for emergency information.
