The North Mecklenburg High debate and speech team finished third overall at the Pinecrest High tournament in Southern Pines. It missed second place by one-half sweepstakes point against two considerably larger teams.
Jack Watson was first in original oratory and novice impromptu speaking in his debut performance. Kiersten Brown and Dalrionne Davenport -- also in debut performances -- were first and second, respectively, in novice oral interpretation.
The interpretation team of Antonio Rivera and Camera Hill placed first overall. Camera was second in oral interpretation.
Emily Yue took first in varsity oral interpretation; in varsity original oratory, Taylor Barrett and Colleen Watson were first and third, respectively. Colleen was second in varsity impromptu speaking.
