N.C. residents who plan to cast ballots on Election Day have one more day to submit their voter registration forms.
Registration forms must be hand-delivered to county boards of elections by 5 p.m. Friday. Forms also can be mailed, but also must be postmarked on Friday.
In Mecklenburg, forms should be sent to the elections office at 741 Kenilworth Ave., Suite 202 in Charlotte.
North Carolina also allows residents to register and vote on the same day at early voting sites, which will open next Thursday.
But Mecklenburg Elections Director Michael Dickerson said Fridays deadline is key for anyone who plans to vote at their precinct on Nov. 6 because in-person registration isnt allowed on Election Day.
Registration forms are available at www.ncsbe.gov under the link Voter Registration, or at county elections offices, public libraries and high schools. Dickerson said residents can also visit the state website to check the status of their voter registration.
Dickerson said Mecklenburg currently has about 665,000 registered voters, including roughly 45,000 who signed up this year. April Bethea
