Charlotte-Mecklenburg police says its Violent Criminal Apprehension Team is looking for a man wanted on federal warrants.

Leonard Antonio Silas, 36, of Charlotte is wanted on possession of a firearm by a felon, according to police. Authorities say Silas has “violent tendencies” which include assault on police officers.

He was charged twice -- in March 2010 and February 2012 -- with assault on an officer. Authorities describe Silas as a black male, 6 feet 2 and 150 pounds.

Anyone with information on Silas’ whereabouts is asked to call detectives at 704-336-8228 or Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600.
