Your morning traffic update

The worst Charlotte-area traffic at 8:50 a.m. is on North Tryon Street in the University City area.

There also are problems on Interstate 77 north of Statesville, where two wrecks have been reported during heavy rain.

Here is a summary at 8:50 a.m.:

-- North Tryon Street at Mallard Creek Church Road ... A collision is badly snarling inbound traffic on North Tryon. It is backed up to Interstate 485.

-- I-485 inner loop, south Charlotte ... Congestion slowing traffic to 25 or 30 mph from Providence Road to South Boulevard.

-- I-77, north of Statesville ... Two wrecks have been reported since 7:30 a.m. north of Statesville. Heavy rain has been falling in that area. Motorists can expect delays until at least 9:30 a.m.

-- I-77 southbound, Lake Norman area ... Congestion slowing traffic to 30 mph south of the lake.
