CONCORD -- The westbound lanes of Cabarrus Avenue between Union and Market streets in downtown Concord will be closed today for utility work, city officials say.
Crews will be doing gas and sewer line repairs until about 4:30 p.m. A detour will be in place, with motorists routed to Corban Avenue, using Church and Spring streets. This work is in advance of the state’s 1.5-mile resurfacing project planned for Cabarrus Avenue between Branchview Drive (N.C. 3) and Powder Street SW.
City officials say crews are doing milling work of the existing road surface, working from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. through Friday night, and again next Monday and Tuesday nights. Overnight paving is scheduled for Oct. 24-26.
