More bars and clubs are sprouting up in Charlotte than condo buildings. Openings this weekend include:

Volume Lounge (1801 Commonwealth Ave.): The same people who brought you Jackelope Jacks and the Peculiar Rabbit bring a dance-nightclub to Plaza Midwood. 704-347-1918.

Venu 29 (363 Concord Parkway North): It’s a restaurant by day, and a live-music venue by night. With two stages, two bars, and a 1,000-person capacity, it’s like the Amos’ Southend or Tremont Music Hall of Concord, bent on supporting good local music with concerts every Saturday. Plus, Venu 29 plans an open mic night on Wednesdays, Texas Hold ’Em tournaments on Thursdays, and a karaoke night on Fridays. 704-787-9660.

Label (900 Music Factory Blvd.): Now open in the NC Music Factory, its large space and upscale ambiance makes you feel like you’re in Vegas. And what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas. www.labelcharlotte.com.

Heist Brewery (2909 Davidson St., Suite 200): Come check out NoDa’s new brewery, serving up handcrafted beers and “twisted American cuisine.” Friday’s grand opening will feature live music from the Josh Carter Band and the Dread Nots on the patio at 6 p.m., and free food samples from 6-7 p.m. 704-375-8260.

Other nightlife highlights

Silent Disco returns for one final time before winter starts on Friday at The Pavilion at EpiCentre (210 E. Trade St.), featuring DJ Daniels Jack and Drex from Kiss 95.1. The quietest dance party, ever. Admission is free and wireless headphones will be provided. 704-570-9595.

BrewFest Weekend at the Renaissance Festival is upon us. On Saturday, you can toast with fine festival micro-brewed ales and taste the home brew that won the 2012 Gambrinus Cup. $20. 704-896-5544.

Finally, on Saturday, check out “The Single Life vs. The Married Life” show at Actor’s Theatre of Charlotte (650 E. Stonewall St.). It’s like “Fifty Shades of Grey,” but funny, and Over the Counter Improv’s members will likely be 50 shades of red as they perform. 8 and 10 p.m. $10 officially, but the magic word is “Paul” to get 50 percent off. www.otcimprov.com.
