ArtFusion at Mint Museum

Admission to both Mint Museum locations is free every Tuesday evening. This Tuesday, Mint Museum Uptown offers a hands-on art fusion program called “Junk.” Discover the beauty of junk. Join environmental artist, Bryant Holsenbeck, for the workshop, “Beauty Out of Bottles: Water Bottles Becoming Flowers,” and check out the exhibit “VantagePoint X/Vik Muniz: Garbage Matters.”

Behailu Academy Grand Opening Kickoff

Behailu Academy, a new NoDa nonprofit, will offer arts and community service opportunities to youths ages 12-18. On Mondays-Thursdays, the academy will offer a free afterschool youth apprenticeship project. On Fridays, teens can take $5 classes, which the public can try out for free at the Grand Opening Kickoff. Class topics range from guitar to mixed media to poetry slams. Times vary; check website.

Blakeney Boo Bash

10 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday. Blakeney Shopping Center, Rea and Ardrey Kell roads. shopblakeney.com

This free family-friendly event features fall activities; crafts such as wax hands, painted pumpkins and sand art; and music from a DJ. You can come dressed in your Halloween costume. There will be a huge slide, a moonbounce and a horsedrawn hayride.

Musical Petting Zoo

Kids can get a close look at symphony instruments, listen to them and even try them out. The Musical Petting Zoo is presented by the Charlotte Symphony Guild.

Culture

Piedmont Cultural Arts Festival

11 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday. Crossing Paths Park, 120 Blythe Drive in Indian Trail. 704-821-5401. indiantrail.org

Experience art, music, food and drinks representative of the mix of cultures and traditions found in the Piedmont region. Art and craft vendor booths featuring handmade, handcrafted art will line the street with a mix of cultural music featured in the Crossing Paths Park Amphitheater. Children’s amusements include free wax hand art project, free spin art project, free face painting and Rockin’ Ranch Petting Zoo.
