About 600 people participated in a walk Saturday morning at Freedom Park to raise more than $100,000 for programs for children and adults living with disabilities and mental health challenges in the Charlotte area.

The 13th annual Charlotte Walk With Me event was hosted by the nonprofit Easter Seals UCP.

“Our walkers’ support makes it possible for Easter Seals UCP to continue to provide meaningful opportunities for people with disabilities in our area to live with equality, dignity and independence,” said Brooke Porter, Charlotte area development manager for the organization.

Easter Seals UCP said it has experienced an uptick in service hours provided locally in the past year to families managing disabilities and mental health issues. For more information, visit nc.eastersealsucp.com.
