Being a Brit, the James Bond movies have always held a special place in my heart. James Bond is a big part of our culture, like Doctor Who and the royals. In fact, a part of one of the Pierce Brosnan movies was filmed close to where I used to live. Although I am a die-hard fan, I’ll admit that I don’t remember which one it was. The point is, James Bond movies have always been important to me, but when I met Robert, they became even more special.

Not only was it another one of our shared interests, but for our first date we went to see “Casino Royale.” We had been spending a lot of time together, and Robert had already confessed that he wanted to be with me. It took a little longer for me to realize how I felt, but the day before our movie date, I finally admitted what he meant to me. We talked for most of the night and shared our excitement about feeling the same way, but we left the night on a cliffhanger, which left me feeling more than ready for our date.

Unfortunately I had to work first, but it wasn’t long into my shift (before our date!) before Robert asked me to be his girlfriend. I know we all gush about our relationships, but it was such a romantic text message and it left me with the biggest smile all day. I was also relieved that I didn’t have to wait until the end of an agonizingly long shift to hear from him!

The rest of the night was perfect and “Casino Royale” holds an important place in our lives because of it. Actually, for weeks after that we’d send ourselves cheesy quotes from the movie. I’m sure he’d be embarrassed that I admitted that, but I’m very sentimental. I love thinking back on that first date and how much happened in one day. I even have the ticket stub still stashed in our memory box and I was even more excited to learn that he still has it too.

We’ve seen every new Bond movie since then and I know “Skyfall” will be no different. It’s a way of reconnecting with each other and it always brings back the memories of that first date. What was your first date with your significant other and do you have an anniversary tradition as a result? Please share via our Facebook page or mine. I’m such a romantic and I’d love to hear your stories!
