The winner: Our clothes started to take longer to dry in the dryer. We had gotten a lot of lint build up around the filter in our dryer lint trap. This made us think the vent must be pretty bad as well. It was. We vacuumed out the hose in the house but could only get so far with the vent to the outside. My fiancé got the idea to blow it out using a leaf blower. It was incredible how much lint was in the vent. The force of the air from the leaf blower blows it out and onto the ground, where we can clean it up. We try to do it every three to six months now. Trisha Rockwell, Charlotte
Shove pants in boots with paint stir stick
I use a wooden paint can stir stick to push my pant legs into my high top boots. After removing the boots I store the stick in the boots! The wooden sticks are plentiful at paint counters. Martha Morphis, Wilkesboro
Remove can labels
I keep a seam ripper (from the notions department or sewing section) on my windowsill over my kitchen sink. I use this to quickly and easily remove the labels from cans for recycling. It is convenient to grab as I am rinsing the cans. Glenda Nevitt, Mint Hill
