Scarrigan Farms: The sixth annual haunted trail at Carrigan Farms, 1261 Oak Ridge Farm Highway (N.C. 150 East), welcomes visitors for thrills and chills at sunset each Friday, Saturday and Sunday through Nov. 3. The event features hayrides, a “mind-bending” vortex, a 3-D experience, an Old West mining town, gruesome forest ghouls, a tragic school bus and a haunted corn maze. $20 per person; group discounts online. Family-Friendly Very Big Goblin Bash: 1-5 p.m. Oct. 28, VBGB Beer Garden, N.C. Music Factory, 920 Hamilton St. Face-painting and bounce house, 1:30 p.m. Junior Cornhole Tournament, 2 p.m. costume parade with prizes, 3 p.m. trick-or-treating (parents asked to donate one bag of candy) and 4 p.m. “School of Rock” performance, followed by Children’s Talent Show. Halloween Photo Extravaganza: 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Oct. 31. Haithcox Photography in Dallas will host its seventh annual Halloween photo event. Staff will photograph costumed kids of all ages, and a donation of any amount will get participants a free 5-by-7 photo. All proceeds benefit nonprofit Gaston Hospice. Details: 704-922-7696.
