The list: Carolina Panthers leaders in career starts

Panthers left tackle Jordan Gross will become the team’s career starts leader Sunday at Chicago. Longtime kicker and original Panther John Kasay holds the games played record at 221. The top five in career starts:

# 1 (tie): Muhsin Muhammad, 141: The wide receiver known as “Moose” had two stints with the Panthers sandwiched around a 3-year stretch in Chicago. Is No. 2 on most of the team’s career receiving lists.

# 1: Mike Minter, 141: The safety from Nebraska spent his entire 10-year career with the Panthers before retiring in 2007 due to knee problems. The team’s career leader in tackles and interception return yardage.

# 1: Jordan Gross, 141: Gross, the first-round pick in 2003, has missed just nine games in 10 seasons, most of which he’s spent protecting his quarterback’s blind side. A two-time Pro Bowler.

# 4: Steve Smith, 136: The Panthers’ career receiving leader, made his fifth Pro Bowl appearance last season. Smith signed a contract extension last winter and has indicated he’d like to play two more seasons after this year.

# 5: Chris Gamble, 121: Ninth-year cornerback passed Eric Davis as the team’s all-time interceptions last season with 27. Gamble was placed on injured reserve this week with a torn labrum.
