Most pressing county issue: The greatest need for district 1 is commuter rail, and construction of the CATS Red Line to Lake Norman. “We need to sit down with Norfolk Southern (railroad) – since they own the tracks – and urge them to help us build the Red Line. The widening of Interstate 77 is not going to be a long-term solution for us. It’s going to create more traffic, more pollution. We’re going to lose more trees.
“Rail service will be more beneficial to us for years to come.”
Why best candidate for district: “I want to see Mecklenburg move forward. I want us to look to the future with more light rail and reusable energy such as solar power. The sun shines every day – we need to harness that energy and put it to good use.”
