Its hard to believe time has gone by so fast, but weve been living in the apartment for six months now! While I knew Id never be the model of a true homemaker, I did think Id have more of a routine down by now. It is funny how often Ill choose laying around over cooking dinner, despite how much I love to cook. Although Im disappointed in my lack of homemaking skills, I love life in our apartment.
Now that its getting colder, coming home to our own place has only become more comforting. Its been wonderful to come home, snuggle under a blanket on the couch, and watch TV together. Its so relaxing after a stressful day at work and it just reminds me how great it is to have our own home to unwind in.
Even the rooms are starting to look more like our own. There is still a lot of decorating left to do though. I know we wont be here permanently, but unless circumstances change for us in the next nine months, we plan on staying here at least another year. Its the kitchen and the bathroom that have me sold Im completely in love with both! I know Robert loves having his own game room, too.
We also have a really spacious bedroom and thats one of the many rooms I want to redecorate. While the rest of our apartment is loaded with stuff, the bedroom looks a little empty. The bathrooms are the same way, and while Im not sure what I can do to make them feel more like ours yet, I know Ive invested a lot of time on Pinterest looking for ideas.
There have been a few changes that Im really excited about though. As you can see in the pictures above, Ive decorated my desk area, our entryway, and weve finally put up our wedding pictures. Ive even tried to start on our empty bathroom space. Were going for an Australian/Outback feel and I love the burnt orange colours.
Its still a work in progress, but it feels more like our place than it did six months ago. I cant wait to start decorating for the holidays either. My family is coming over for Thanksgiving and Ive already picked out some of the recipes, including coconut sweet potatoes (recipe will be sure to come later)! Then well get to put up our tree and decorate for the first Christmas in our own place. I may be a little early, but I say bring on the holiday festivities!
