Ashley Joseph is Children's Theatre of Charlotte's newest Board member.

Ashley Joseph, 39, is the newest member of Children's Theatre of Charlotte's Board of Directors. Although her appointment is recent, her involvement with the theater has been an important part of her life for several years. Her three children have taken classes there, and her 9-year-old son, in particular, has developed a love for performing. Joseph loves attending shows and seeing the kids let their imaginations run wild.

Children and the arts: As the owner of Gymboree in Ballantyne, Joseph knows about introducing kids to music and movement at a young age and has seen the positive impact the arts can have.

Children's Theatre: At first, Joseph was not aware of Children's Theatre's offerings. “I thought of it as a theater for children that put on plays but had no sense of the quality of productions they do. It is a professional organization that produces professional shows and Charlotte is lucky to have theater of this caliber,” Joseph said.

Bringing business savvy: Joseph, who is a graduate of Harvard Business School, has seen other organizations where “wonderful creative ideas are never realized because the business side wasn't properly in place,” she said. “Children's Theater is a case study on how one should run the business side.”!
